Core pillars

Three interconnected pillars, as set out in our constitution

Our strategic focus runs across three pillars at once, because a young person's mind, body and income are not separate concerns.

Pillar 1

Mental Health & Psychosocial Wellbeing

We work to destigmatise mental health challenges, adolescent pregnancy and emotional trauma among young people, and to make support easy to reach. Peer-led wellness circles create confidential, judgement-free space — including dedicated circles for teenage mothers living with post-partum depression, anxiety, isolation or social rejection — backed by referral pathways to trained professionals.

  • Community sensitization to destigmatise mental health, adolescent pregnancy and emotional trauma
  • Confidential peer-led support groups and wellness circles, including circles for teenage mothers
  • Psychosocial referrals to certified counsellors, medical officers and psychological networks
Who this serves: Youth across Nyamira County, with dedicated focus on teenage mothers and vulnerable adolescent girls.

Pillar 2

Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)

Young people make safer decisions when information is accurate and they are treated with dignity. We deliver age-appropriate SRHR education to reduce adolescent pregnancy, prevent STIs and HIV and combat gender-based violence, connect young people and young mothers to youth-friendly health services, and champion bodily autonomy — including the right of teenage mothers to return to education after childbirth.

  • Prevention work against gender-based violence and unsafe health practices
  • Links to youth-friendly reproductive health services, maternal care and dignity kits

Pillar 3

Livelihoods, Skills Development & Economic Re-Integration

Wellbeing is hard to sustain without income. We deliver practical, market-aligned vocational, agricultural, digital and artisanal training, build life skills from financial literacy to positive parenting, and open doors through group savings, mentorship and enterprise or job linkages. Community-based childcare during sessions means young mothers can take part fully.

  • Vocational, agricultural, digital and artisanal skills training aligned to local markets
  • Life skills: emotional intelligence, positive parenting, financial literacy, communication, entrepreneurship and leadership
  • Table-banking group savings, micro-mentorships and links to enterprise funds and job placement
  • Community-based childcare during training so young mothers can participate fully
Who this serves: Unemployed and underemployed youth, single teenage mothers, and young people building small enterprises.
